Gatineau Park (30 miles from Lawless lake)

Located in south-western Quebec and an area of 363 km2, this park has the distinction of having one of the more southern climate of the province.

The Gatineau Park includes a large number of campgrounds and picnic. It is crossed by 165 km of hiking trails and 90km of mountain bike trails. The park is so very popular with cyclists, most of the walks are very hilly and includes several hills that will test the abilities of any athletes.

The location of the park in the Gatineau Hills is also a popular destination for skiing. It includes nearly 200 km of trails and the park is host to the annual competition of Keskinada. There is also a ski resort at Camp Fortune.

With 1.7 million visitors in 2000, it is also the most visited park in Quebec.

Algonquin Park (50 miles from Lawless lake)

Covering an area of 7660 km2 of Algonquin Park is home to over 2,400 lakes and 1,200 km of waterways. Located on the border of northern coniferous forests and deciduous forests of the south, and is rich in habitats and home to many species of animals and plants.

The park is open throughout the year. Campsites are positioned to welcome visitors. Educational trails allow visitors to understand how the forest is managed and trace the history of the region. These trails also stress the key biotopes and brochures Hikers can learn about nature they encounter.

Established in 1893, is the first provincial park in Canada. He was named a national historic site in 1992.
